Chicken coops seem to be more popular in recent years and they're not all that expensive to build.

Chicken coops can be made from almost anything, such as an old shed or camping trailer, using scrap lumber, PVC pipes, and so on. Wood is the most commonly used material for coop building. This plan is for a coop built out of scrap lumber which keeps expense down. This is a good looking chicken coop with a slanted roof and all that’s needed to make a chicken coop work.
